We're back

Back to the cold.

Back to the babe sleeping 13+ hours at night and taking long naps.

Back to sewing.

Back to responsibility.

I miss the warm weather and my family, but it's nice to have a sense of normalcy again.  Sophie, on the other hand, is having withdrawals.  I can not leave the room/ look away from her without her crying.  What this means for me:  I get to hold her while doing my daily routine or listen to a crying (fake crying might I add) baby all day.  I hope this phase passes.

Speaking of, she's changed a lot in the past two months.  They can seem the same for so long and then suddenly they are much bigger/smarter/stronger all in one day.

In the past two months she has learned to sit up on her own, roll to get wherever she pleases, suck on her toes, pull herself up from a sitting position, balance herself on furniture while standing, scoot forward but mostly backwards, and get up onto her hands and knees like she's going to crawl.  No crawling yet.  I'm sort of glad.  I feel like she's getting too big too fast.

She also eats all kinds of solid foods.  She loves avocado, banana, all kinds of squashes, green beans, oatmeal, prunes and occasionally enjoys chewing on an apple slice or pineapple core.

Banana squash anyone?

She spent her first day at the park in 80+ degree weather in the middle of December (did I mention I LOVE Arizona).

And enjoyed her first Christmas.  She was spoiled.

 Cousin matchy matchy.

New toys.

Oh man.  I love this girl.

Confessions

I ate six (yeah, you heard me) of these yesterday.

I own more fabric than actual clothing.

I secretly like the fact that Sophie still eats at night.

I finished watching all four seasons (in less than two months) of this show and I sort of love it.

I recently discovered my love for pumpkin pie.  Thank you sister.  Just don't tell my brother Jake.  We used to be haters together.

I've checked my favorite sewing blogs twice already today.  Working on Christmas gifts.  Need inspiration.  Someone stop me.

I'm very productive during nap time.

I laugh so hard sometimes I cry.  Both Sophie and Rob are good at getting me to this point.  And Sarah when we are being attacked by ducks.

Speaking of...I wish I could write like her.

I listen to nsync on occasion.  You know, for old times sake.

I've listened to this holiday song several times today.  Don't lie.  You wish you could dance like them too.

I don't know what I'm going to tell my kids when they ask about Santa Claus.  Or sex.  The truth is always an option.

I have not showered today, and don't intend to until my latest project is finished.  Could be awhile (hopefully before Rob gets home).   Did I mention I went running this morning and I smell?  Like Bad.

Girls ARE stronger than Boys

We had a fun day watching Wes this week.  Sophie is smitten by him and he loves her too.  It is so cute to watch them together. I think this video says a lot about girls and boys in general. And in case you are wondering, this death grip is usually done on my hair.

And I couldn't help myself...another laughing video.  If your annoyed with me for posting it, just skip it.  But she's laughing so hard she can barely keep her head off the ground and I just couldn't resist.

Bijou Market

I can't wait for this event.  Maybe I'll have my own booth someday....who knows.

Not for the faint of heart...

Sophie had a stomach bug this week.  What this means:  lots of laundry, lots of cuddling, not so many laughs.

One would think a baby who has never been fed solids would have not-so-yucky throw up.  One would be wrong!  It smells exactly like the real thing.

One would think a baby who only drinks 6 ounces a meal (give or take) would have small messes if they did decide to purge the entire contents of their stomach.  Wrong again.  6 ounces can EASILY turn into gallons.

One would think a very small baby could never drastically change the amount of laundry one might do in a week.  Again, one would be wrong!  I think we're up to 10 this week and still counting.

One would think a baby who is cloth diapered could never have a blow out.  You know--the kind that gets all over their clothes?  Wrong.  Not even these bad boys -gussets and all- can contain the messes this girl has made this week.

One might think a new mom might feel like having a small break after all of this...but I still can't get enough of her.  Stink, mess, and all.

Happy Halloween...a little late

She makes a pretty cute traffic light.  Don't you think?

And why not coordinate the whole family?  The letters look nice because I printed, traced, then sewed them on.  Not because I am skilled.

Our good friends Steve and Christie and their little guy.

Sophie and Blake....he makes a pretty cute Dino.

More Sophie and Blake.  And yes, that is spit up rolling down her shirt....we try to look our best for pictures.

Blake and Sophie with Uncle Kyle at our spooky Halloween dinner.

Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids.

Contrary to what some of you may believe, Sophie does not do TRICKS.  She is not a dog.  She is a little person.  She has SKILLS.

Want to see her latest skill?  She learned it all by herself.  I know this because I am absolutely certain that neither Rob nor I have ever done this for her.  Ever.

Sorry for the video overload.  I really like my video camera.

If you couldn't tell, I am hiding under her swing while taking this because she stopped making this noise every time she saw the camera.

I just couldn't resist

If you ignore the dorky parents, this one is pretty funny.  Don't judge.  One day, you too will find yourself doing ridiculous things to get your baby to laugh....especially if their laugh is as cute as this one.

We're just preparing her for soccer playing.  Don't worry, that thing is made out of paper.

For your viewing pleasure...

First day Sophie rolled over. It actually happened a few weeks ago, but I haven't got around to posting it.

I have been trying for weeks to get her to laugh when I have the camera out, but she always gets so distracted by the camera that she can't do it. This time I tricked her by putting the camera on the counter while I made her laugh. What was I doing to get this reaction you ask? I'll never tell. Do enjoy.

Sometimes

Sometimes I wish I could sneak into her bedroom, pick her up and snuggle her all night long.

Sometimes I wish we still took naps together on the couch.

Sometimes I wish I could laugh and play with her when she wakes up in the middle of the night.

Sometimes I wish she still fit into her newborn clothes.

Sometimes I wish she could tell me exactly what is on her mind.

Sometimes I wish I had the last four months on record, so I could remember every moment that has slipped by so quickly.

Four months old.  13 lbs 4 oz.  22.4 inches long.  Can you believe that?  Me either.

On a side note.  Some of you may remember this post from a while back.  Well, the husband outdid himself yet again by making jalepeno jelly and honey butter.  SOOOOOO good.  We took a little trip to the BYU farmers market and just couldn't fork over the 15 dollars for both of these, so we settled for the next best thing and made them ourselves.  Ok, not true....Rob made them while I washed the 10 billion dishes he used along the way.  WORTH IT.  Come over and try some.

Perfection.

I can not believe Sophie is three months old.  It seems like she was born last week, but I also feel like I've been a mom forever.  I don't know where my itty bitty six pound baby went.  She has changed so much and even though it was love at first sight, I love her more and more every day.

I am pretty terrible at writing in a journal, but I do try to keep track of things as they happen.   Recently she has started playing with toys.  She has been able to hold her head up for a while now, but about three weeks ago she started pushing herself up on her hands from her tummy.  I love when she does this.  She can practically scoot herself on the ground already by kicking her feet on the floor.  It is pretty incredible to see this tiny baby moving herself so well.

Today, she did her first real laugh.  It was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.  She has laughed on numerous occasions before this but never for more than a second or two.  I'm talking full on hysterics.  It began as a cute little laugh that made Sarah and I laugh back.  From there she just fed off of us and kept going.  Sarah was there to prove it.  I tried to get it on camera, but by the time I got it out she had lost interest.  Here's an old picture (about 2 weeks ago) of her laughing.

Recently, she has become obsessed with the television.  I feel sort of horrible letting her watch it, but if it is ever on and she is in the room, you can bet that is where she is looking.

It holds her interest endlessly (or at least for as long as I'll allow her to look at it).  She practically watched an entire soccer game with Rob.  AND...she has already picked up his nervous habit.  Nail biting.  Liverpool was having a rough day.  Who can blame her?

Other than enjoying every minute with the little one, I have been sewing.  A LOT.  Mostly for her, but some for me too.  Someday I'll show you some of my projects...

Refreshed

This week I feel so refreshed.  Maybe it's because I'm back to running again. Yeah, it's been awhile. The babe has slept 7 hours straight 3 different times this week. I'm not trying to brag, it's just so much better than the usual 1 1/2 to 3 hours I usually get between feeding her. And I have made dinner every day this week. I hate admitting it, but I have been somewhat of a slacker in that arena lately. Oh yeah, and not too mention I can see the bottom of my laundry bin for the first time in MONTHS. Sick, I know! Gone are the days when I do the laundry to find a particular item and ignore the rest.  Needless to say it has been a good week.  I've even started a few sewing projects that I am determined to finish before I go to AZ in August.  I feel good just typing this stuff, like I've actually accomplished things this week.

Anyways, on to more exciting and cute things.

Sophie is the only person I know that loves to shower as much as her dad.  Yesterday we showered together and every time I moved out of the water to get out she got this sad/betrayed face.  So we stayed in the shower until it started getting cold...yeah I'm a softie.

The girl who can escape even the tightest of swaddles looked so snuggly in her little towel right up until  she peed in it...so about 2 minutes.  Every time I capture a picture of a smile it is partially concealed.  If those eye's don't say smile though, I don't know what does.

We went camping last weekend with my family.  I LOVE going to our cabin.  It is on my list of favorite places right up there with Lake Powell.  I call it camping because contrary to what others may believe should be in a cabin, ours does not have running water, a TV, microwave, or any electricity for that mater.  We use an outhouse, generator (if we need it), and cook over the fire or propane stove.  So I CAN actually call it camping because it is more like camping than vacationing at the family hotel and spa.  It was a unique experience with a baby, trying to keep her away from the bugs and smoke, but great to be with the family.  Plus, I'm pretty sure I can attribute some of our successful sleeping this week to this sister, who got Sophie to go a 6 hour stretch while we were up at the cabin....miracle worker.

Everyone wanted to snuggle her.

Cutie.  Look at those eyes!  Seriously!

Lookin at her daddy.

She looks SO chubby in this one.  I love it!

All bundled up to sleep.  Oh, and that cute hat was made by her aunt Jenny.

The whole Wynn bunch + Trevor.

Summer at our house.

I love this girl.

This was going to be a picture of Sophie smiling, but she blocked it at the last minute.  She's doing a lot more smiling lately and it is CUTE!

Tummy time to build those muscles.  Look at those biceps...nice.

Uncle Jake.

Cousins Eden and Carmen.

All the cousin's on the Campbell side together.  A pretty cute bunch if I do say so myself.

Sophie's friend Blake.  Is it me or does my child look bald compared to him.  Must be her receding hairline.

And they are already such good friends:

They watch TV together.  (I'm such a good babysitter!)

Cry together.

And lean on each other.  We love Blake.

And...drumroll please....

....look who will FINALLY take a pacifier!  Yes, that's right...this girl will.  I've been trying to get her to stop sucking on her hands since the day she was born but she would never let me stick this thing in her mouth.  Now she will take it when she's really tired at night.  Which is fine with me...just don't want those hands in her mouth.

She liked it so much, she fell asleep with it.  Look at those lines.
