Groundhog Day

I have been tired of winter for about 3 months now, so remembering that Tuesday (Feb. 2nd) is Groundhog Day, made me feel a little happy.  I've been reading up on Groundhog Day facts for my 1st graders and came across a few interesting things.  First, Punxsutawney Phil has been around for 120 years predicting our weather (Groundhog's live for like 12 years so obviously it has been replaced a few dozen times..but still) so I am feeling confident in his weather predicting abilities. Also, Groundhog predictions have an 80% accuracy rate so the odds are good.  Last year was an early spring, so maybe this year we'll get lucky again.

If we don't, I'll be in serious need of a vacation away from this miserable place, which is why I entered this contest  for a free trip to Seattle.  You should check it out as well.  I mean, who doesn't want a free vacation?  A special thanks to Laura for letting me know about it.

Groundhog Day is also a big deal this year because we find out...girl or boy...it's driving me crazy not knowing.
